Welcome to St John’s Beaumont Preparatory School for boys. St John's, like every school across the country, finds itself in unprecedented times and we remain committed to doing everything we possibly can to provide our boys and their families with the academic and personal support necessary to thrive in the coming months.
From January 2021 we are running a full live academic and creative arts curriculum and modified activities programme for all boys learning from home. Our online teaching programme, ‘SJB Reach’ comprises of daily 8-hour live lessons and co-curricular courses which are taken by our pupils on laptops provided by the school.
Whilst COVID-19 presents undeniable challenges to our well-established wider co-curricular (Activities) programme, it also offers valuable opportunities for innovation. Our intention will be to continue to demonstrate to our boys, through our actions, how we can thrive in this new environment and make the very most of the time, skills and facilities we have.
Daily morning assemblies and collective worship remain central to the well-being programme in our Roman Catholic, Jesuit preparatory school for boys and these will continue both in small groups and online for the whole school. Music concerts will continue to run online and our ‘Magis programme’ will remain central to our wider curriculum.
At St John's, we welcome boys of all backgrounds whose parents recognise in our Jesuit values and approach to education something they desire and wish to support for their own children.
We aim to encourage well-rounded young men who can develop the confidence and open-mindedness to make the most of every opportunity and challenge that life will offer to them: these abilities and attributes are more important than ever as we find ourselves in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is important to us that boys demonstrate the same commitment to challenge as they do to areas that naturally inspire and interest them.
Our curriculum is broad and invites the boys to think about life from a wider perspective: one that piques their interest and challenges them to see relationships and circumstances from a more sensitive and intelligent perspective.
The Jesuit education St John’s boys experience calls them to live and learn for the greater glory of God. It is both a first-class academic education and a consistent formation of character. This is why boys leave St John’s with impressive achievements academically, in sport and the creative and performing arts, and also with well-rounded characters that will serve them well at their senior schools and into adult life.
